Whale Shark Experience

Whale Sharks are the largest fish in the sea. With their white undersides, dark backs and pale spots and lines these creatures look truly amazing. Whale shark new-borns measure around 60cm and the largest adult discovered in India in 1983 measured 12meter long. Whale sharks are filter feeders and use throat and gill muscles to pump large volumes of water over their gills. This pushed water over a filtering mechanism that extracts planktonic organisms in a sieving action.

Kontiki Divers is organizing regular diving / snorkelling trips to Cebu-South where we can see these great creatures. Anybody can join: snorkelers and divers from entry level to experienced. We depart for this day trip at 7am from Kontiki Divers in a VAN. Everybody needs to be at the dive center at 6:30am to set up. To save time better the night before if possible. VAN journey takes around 4 hours. Once we arrive at the dive site we do shore entry dive. Whale sharks can be seen only 100 meter from the shore line between 1m-5m depth. Snorkelers can see sharks from the surface very clearly. We do 2 shore dives with lunch in between then heading back with estimated return to Kontiki around 7pm.
